Ranger
America's top-ranked midsize truck. Three capable engines. Up to 7,500 lbs of tow capacity. And a Raptor that earned a spot on Car and Driver's 10Best list.
The Midsize Truck
That Earns Its
Reputation.
Ford redesigned the Ranger from scratch in 2024 -- new frame, new engines, a wider bed, fold-flat rear seats, and a modernized interior that was long overdue. The 2026 version carries that redesign forward with refinements, and the result is the midsize truck that Edmunds and U.S. News both rank at the top of its class.
For Clarksville buyers, the Ranger hits a useful middle ground. It parks and maneuvers more easily than an F-150, but it's a genuinely capable truck -- not a lifestyle prop. The 4-foot bed handles a full sheet of plywood, and the 7,500-pound tow rating (properly equipped) is enough for most boats, campers, and utility trailers you'd haul to Lake Barkley or Land Between the Lakes on a long weekend.
Three engine options let you match the powertrain to how you actually use the truck. The standard 2.3L turbo-four is strong and efficient. The available 2.7L V6 brings real performance at a notable price jump. And the Raptor -- with its 405-hp V6, FOX Racing live-valve shocks, and desert-racing DNA -- is in its own category entirely.

Match the Power
to the Mission.
The standard 2.3L handles most buyers well. The 2.7L V6 is worth it if you regularly push the tow rating or want a noticeably quicker truck. The 3.0L in the Raptor is a different conversation entirely.
Turbo 4-Cylinder
Turbocharged four-cylinder through a 10-speed automatic. Smooth midrange, adequate for highway merges and grades, and right-sized for daily driving and moderate towing. Tows up to 7,500 lbs with the Trailer Tow Package. The right engine for most buyers -- no need to pay for the V6 unless your use case demands it.
V6
The V6 upgrade adds meaningful urgency -- 0-60 around 5.6 seconds in Edmunds testing. Maintains the 7,500-lb tow rating and adds noticeably smoother power delivery for heavy towing situations. Comes bundled with 4WD and additional features on XLT, which makes the price jump ($7,545 on XLT) substantial. Worth a careful look at whether the Lariat is a better entry point for the V6.
Twin-Turbo V6
405 hp, desert-race pedigree, and paired with FOX Racing shocks that adjust continuously in real time. Not available on any other Ranger trim. The Raptor is a purpose-built off-road performance truck -- not a visual package. Tow rating drops to 5,510 lbs versus the standard Ranger's 7,500. That's the tradeoff for the off-road hardware.
This One's Built for
What's Past the
Pavement.
The Raptor shares the Ranger name but very little else with the rest of the lineup. It's an off-road performance truck with desert-racing engineering -- FOX Racing shocks that adjust live to terrain, locking front and rear differentials, 33-inch all-terrain tires on beadlock-capable wheels, and a suspension geometry that no other Ranger has.
- 405-HP 3.0L twin-turbo V6 -- exclusive to Raptor
- 2.5" FOX Racing shocks with Live Valve Technology -- adjust in real time
- Locking front and rear differentials standard
- 33-inch all-terrain tires on 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels
- Steel skid plates: engine, transfer case, fuel tank
- 8 drive modes including Baja, Rock Crawl, Mud/Ruts, and Sand
- Standard 4WD -- no 4x2 option, because that's the point
- ActiveX sport-bolstered seats with Code Orange accents
- 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster with Raptor graphics
- Starting at $57,070 plus destination
A Wider Bed.
Smarter Utility.
The 2024 redesign widened the Ranger's bed by 1.5 inches, which matters when you're trying to fit a standard pallet or a pair of ATV tires side by side. The 5-foot length handles most real-world loads, and the available Pro Power Onboard outlet turns the bed into a mobile power source.
- 5-foot truck bed with 1,788-lb max payload capacity
- Wider bed opening than pre-redesign Ranger -- full sheet of plywood fits flat
- Available Pro Power Onboard -- 400W in-cab and in-bed outlets
- Available integrated box side step for easier bed access
- Available spray-in bedliner or hard folding tonneau cover
- Available zone lighting to illuminate the bed perimeter at night
- 7,500-lb max towing (properly equipped) -- enough for a boat, camper, or horse trailer
A Cabin Worth
Spending Time In.
The Ranger's interior was a meaningful step forward in the 2024 redesign. Fold-flat rear seats are a genuine quality-of-life improvement for anyone who uses the cab for cargo when the bed is full. Higher trims add materials and comfort that approach pickup territory it previously couldn't reach.
- SuperCrew cab standard -- four full doors, seating for five
- Fold-flat rear seats for extended cargo access from the cab
- Soft-touch materials now on XL and XLT (added in redesign)
- Available panoramic sunroof (Lariat and above)
- Available heated and ventilated front seats (Lariat)
- Available B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen (Lariat)
- Dual-zone automatic climate standard on Lariat
Built Tough Doesn't
Mean Giving Up
Comfort.
Tennessee weather runs a full range -- cold winters, humid summers, and those perfect spring and fall days that make you want to leave the windows down on the way to the lake. The Ranger's available comfort features cover all of it.
- Available panoramic sunroof for open-air driving on good weather days
- Remote start standard on XLT and above -- preheat or precool before you get in
- Available wireless charging pad (XLT and above)
